A message from Khadijah Jones, Director of the Campaign for Working Families:
Last year the Department of Public Welfare (DPW) awarded the Campaign for Working Families a 3-year grant to provide free tax preparation to families in Philadelphia–a strong commitment to ensuring that working families save their hard-earned money during tax season.
However, in June the department cut the funding without warning after just one year reducing their annual grant from $300,000 to $0.
Now, I am questioning how we will keep the tax sites open and meet our goals for the upcoming tax season.
The families that rely on free tax and asset-building services deserve better. The volunteers who dedicated over 20,000 hours at the tax sites deserve better. And my staff members who have been volunteering their time for the last six weeks deserve better.
That’s why we’re launching…
reFUND the Campaign!
For the next two weeks, we need you to show your support. The Campaign has strong roots and will keep helping families at free, volunteer-powered tax sites, but whether we serve 100 or 1,000 or 10,000 families depends on you.
You can help reFUND the Campaign in two great ways:
1. Give a gift to the Campaign by clicking here.
2. Sign the petition to restore state funding by clicking here.
Thank you for your generosity and
congratulations on a job well done!

The state budget cuts were not related to performance. In fact, CWF just had the best tax season in its ten year history. Our latest infographic fact sheet by Data Intern Angela Minster tells the story…
