The New England Journal of Medicine looks through 200 years of back issues to understand how we die differently:

1900 Top Causes:

  1. Pneumonia or Influenza
  2. Tuberculosis
  3. Gastrointestinal  Infections

2010 Top Causes:

  1. Heart Disease
  2. Cancer
  3. Noninfectious Airways Diseases
