Event/ Open to the Public: PA Voter ID Workshop and Voter Registration Drive | APABA-PA | 6/28/12

Chinatown, PhiladelphiaAre you interested learning more about or working with issues surrounding the new Pennsylvania voter ID law?The Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF) and APABA-PA, in partnership with the Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation (PCDC), will be hosting a press conference to educate the Asian American community and its leaders about requirements imposed by the new law. The press conference will take place on July 2, 2012 at 12 noon at the PCDC office, located at 301 N 9th Street in Philadelphia’s Chinatown.  The presentation will highlight the PA Voter ID law and the importance for voters to bring appropriate identification at the polls in November.  A press release is attached.

Along with the press conference, AALDEF will be spearheading a voter registration drive on July 2, starting at 6pm.  They are looking for volunteers.  Please contact Rahat Babar at rahat.babar@gmail.com if you are interested. APABA-PA members, Rahat Babar and Djung Tran, will be presenting on the Voter ID requirements.  The workshop will be held at On Lok Senior Center, 219 N. 10th Street, Philadelphia, PA.
