Some New Jersey lawmakers are proposing a bill to eliminate the state’s 72-hour waiting period for couples seeking a license to wed reasoning that the law is antiquated and repealing it would give New Jersey a competitive edge in the wedding tourism market.

List of Waiting Periods for Marriage Licenses:
- Delaware: 24 hours. If both of you are nonresidents, there is a 96 hours waiting period.
- District of Columbia: 5 days.
- Pennsylvania: 3 days.
- Wisconsin: 6 days.
